Hey! Look at me officially existing on the web….

My very first blog post ever! (I must admit this is nerve racking)

Hey everyone! My name is Patty. I am so excited to write my first blog post, however I have to admit I am not a wonderful writer. That’s probably why I always loved art because you didn’t really need to write much. Let’s just say I am going to do my best and make everything sound as best I can and hopefully will be written with no spelling mistakes or run on sentences.

I wanted to tell you a little bit about me and this new mission I am on. I have been working tirelessly for the past year on really getting everything ready for this new chapter of my life; which I am committed to. I have always loved making handmade everything, teaching myself many new skills. I did this clearly because I enjoyed doing it but now that I look back, I think because I was searching for something. Something that made me happy, that I could do all day, and make it my job. (I believe everyone should work in something they love) If you received my newsletter or read my about me you probably know about this.

I am starting as a surface pattern designer, something I am truly passionate about. It just makes my hear sing to be designing florals, motifs, lettering and using them to make patterns (oh yeah and off course other fun stuff that while soon pop on to my website!) You are an important part of this journey because it is you who will hopefully be liking, talking about, sharing and bringing home my work. You will help me grow and make this dream a reality.

So let me tell you a little about whats going on. I have build my brand Patty Basemi with a great deal of hard work, lots of thinking, planning, learning and (yep!) designing. Coming up with the name was a little bit trick for me. My name is Patricia ( al though I honestly prefer Patty) its a very common name and then my last name Rodriguez ( well even more common and honestly does it have a ring or a uniqueness to it? I didn’t think so). So now you much be wondering, WHY? Patty Basemi… Where did Basemi come from? What does it even mean? Bear with me….

I came up with Basemi when I joined the names of my three kids, Barbara, Santiago and Emiliano. And thats how Basemi was born. I loved that they could be a part of this new adventure too; and give my name a special meaning. (Plus there is literally no Basemi out in social media).

My friend, Juncal, helped giving my logo life. She knew all my ideas and helped me create this logo which I am very proud of. I am a big believer in helping small business because at the end of they day there is an actual person making living doing what they love….

Any ways so thats a little story about my brand name I wanted to share with you to start my blog.

I hope we get to know each other and remember: when you shop, follow or like from a small business there is an actual person that does a happy dance.

Please keep an eye out as my webpage comes to life with all I have to share with you. My newsletter will be a monthly one and my blog well I hoping to be able to post once a week if motherhood doesn’t come in to take over sometimes. I promise more colorful pictures and less writing.

I knew I wanted my signature to be part of my logo and so I worked on making my “P” more understandable as so because it can register to some as a “G.” I off course knew I wanted to have a butterfly flying around my logo, because I LOVE butterflies…..
